22.06.2013 THE university rating for 2012/2013
In the recently releazed The Times Educational (THE) experts rating of the universities worldeide the Lomonosov Moscow State University is at the 50th place (was not on the list in 2012 and was at 33 position in 2011), whereas in the world-wide rating it holds 201-225 place (was on 276-300 place in 2011-2012 rating). Besides the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the only Moscow Physics Ingeneering Institute (MEPHI) is in ceded into the world-wide rating in the group of 226-250, but it does not catch the list of THE expert rating.

25.06.2013 Impact Factor 2012 of the Moscow University Physics Bulletin
Impact Factor of the Moscow University Physics Bulletin journal in the recently releazed list of impact factors of leading journals published by the Thompson Reuters has been increased up to 0.225, and it is increasing since its first IF in 2010. In the nearest plans of the editorial board is to scan archives of the journal's Russian and English versions and post them at the Springer platform (in English) and at the e-library platform (in Russian).

12.10.2012 Lecture of Nobel laureate Claude Cohen-Tannoudju
On 12th of October a lecture by 1997 Nobel laureate in Physics, Prof. Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Département de Physique de l'ENS, France, will take place at the Conference Hall of the Nonlinear Optics Lab at 15:30. The title of the lecture is "Advance of Atomic Physics -- From Optical Pumping to Ultracold Atoms".

20.09.2012 Professor Silonov is the Honorary Doctor of Mongolian State University
Professor Dr. Valentin Silonov, Solid State Physics Department, was awarded by the title of "Honorary Doctor of the Faculty of Physics and Electronics of Mongolian State University". The title was assigned for his scientific achievements in the field of solid state physics by the Academic Council of Faculty of Physics and Electronics of Mongolian State University (Ulan-Bator, Mongolia) on September 14, 2012.

01.09.2012 Russian award for the young scientists in the field of nanoindustry
300 kRbl will be spent in 2012 for these awards. Young scientists who are not the members of the award committees  and who are under 35 years old can apply for this award. Nominations are accepted both directly from the scientists and from third parties. The complete nomination set of papers (see http://rusnanoforum.ru/events/) has to be submitted by September 15, 2012.

Dear faculties and all staff members of the Faculty of Physics,

Congratulations with the beginning of the New Academic Year, I wish all of you new achievements and success!

Congratulations to the first year students with entering our Faculty of Physics at Lomonosov University! You are entering into one of the most wonderful period of your life – the student days. Interesting meetings, talented teachers, involvement in creative projects, great and minor discoveries, and, surely, examinations (just two time a year in students’ and faculties’ joy) are awaiting for you.

The Faculty of Physics offers a world-wide recognized system of physical higher education. Our  graduates work not only in our country, but also in the most prestigious universities and scientific laboratories of the Western Europe, the USA, Japan and all over the world. It happens that graduate schools of European and American universities accept our students even before their graduation.

Lomonosov Moscow State University an our Faculty of Physics offer our students all necessary conditions to make them professionals, so that they have a very good first step in their career and serve well to our Country. However, in order to achieve these goals not only the faculties, but also you yourselves will have work a lot. Of prime importance is that you will learn how to work without assistance, so that you will then be able to cope with any problem you will bump at in your life. 08.10.2008 The Nobel Prize inPhysics 2008
The Nobel prize in Physics 2008 goes to Yoichiro Nambu (Enrico Fermi Institute, University of Chicago, USA) "for the discovery of the mechanism of spontaneous broken symmetry in subatomic physics" and to Makoto Kobayashi (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Japan) and Toshihide Maskawa (Kyoto University, Japan) "for the disovery of the origin of the broken symmetry which predicts the existence of at least three families of quarks in nature"."

02.06.2005 New joint LG-Chem/MSU laboratory
On June, 2nd, 2005 in Moscow State University the opening ceremony for joint laboratory between the Moscow State University and company LG-Chem took place. It is planned that within the framework of joint laboratory several scientific projects will be implemented on a competitive basis which will be funded by LG-Chem company. The laboratory is located in building of UPC "Physics". Academician, professor Alexei Removich Khokhlov is appointed as the director of this laboratory.
