Pomeranchuk award 2014 was awarded on September 18, 2014, at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics to a Russian physicist — Academician, Professor, of the Faculty of Physics (Chair of Quantum Electronics) of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Leonid Keldysh.

The Pomeranchuk award is a prestigious international award in the field of theoretical physics, awarded annually by the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics. The award is named after Pomeranchuk an outstanding theoretical physicist. It was established in 1998 (the year of the 85th anniversary of the birth of Pomeranchuk). According to the Statute of the award, Nobel Prize winners can not be nominated for this award.

Talking about scientific contributions of Leonid Keldysh, Nikolay Sibel'din stressed that knows the winner since 1966 when as student came to the Lebedev Physical Institute and Leonid Keldysh visited the group in which Nikolay worked to discuss the running experiments. This award marked outstanding results by Leonid Keldysh "in solid state physics: creation of the theory of tunneling phenomena in semiconductors, the diagram technique for non-equilibrium quantum systems and for the prediction of the exciton condensation."

Addressing the audience, Leonid Keldysh thought about what a bright personality was Pomeranchuk, and as he stood with his talent at the Landau seminar. Then he spoke about the latest discoveries in the theory of the tunnel junction.

Second Pomeranchuk award 2014 was awarded to Professor of the Rutgers University (USA), Head of the IPPI laboratory Alexander Zamolodchikov "for outstanding performance in mathematical physics: finding the exact S-matrices in the theory of integrable systems, the construction of two-dimensional conformal field theories, and accurate results in the renormalization-group dynamics."
